History
The origins of the Manuli Group date back to 1935, the year in which Dardanio Manuli, its founder, began making the electrical insulation tape called MANUPLAST®.
Since 1962, production and sale of adhesive tape have been entrusted to Manuli Autoadesivi that, over the years that followed, became a world leader in the sector by extending its range and committing strongly to research and development.
In 1987 Manuli Film was founded, to operate in the area of bi-oriented polypropylene film and over a short period of time it took its place as one of the most important European companies in the market.
Manuli Stretch Group was launched in 1994 at the same time as the acquisition of Dario Manuli (Novara, Italy), the first European company to adopt cast extrusion technology for the production of stretch LLDPE film, a 100% recyclable material. Within a very short time it took a leading role in the sector, due to its technology and two Italian plants located in Aprilia (LT) and Pozzilli (IS).
An indication is given below of the major milestones that have marked the Group's growth and expansion:
1994 establishing of Manuli Stretch S.p.A. and acquisition of Dario Manuli (Novara, Italy), the first European manufacturer of cast-technology stretch film;
1995 Manuli Stretch, with its two plants in Aprilia and Pozzilli, becomes the leading group in the world for the production and marketing of totally-recyclable LLDPE stretch film;
1995 creation and development of the world-first pre-stretched stretch film obtained directly from the casting line, Manustif ®, a product covered by two international patents;
1996 creation and development of the world-first CAST LLDPE agricultural stretch film, 100% recyclable;
1998 construction of a new plant in Buenos Aires, Argentina;
1999 construction of a new mega-plant for stretch film in Schkopau (Leipzig, Germany);
2000 acquisition of the majority stake in the German stretch film manufacturer DRG Plastic Films;
2004 investment in the CPP (cast polypropylene) sector at the Aprilia factory;
2007 acquisition of the assets of the Quintec Films Corporation (Shelbyville, TN, USA), an American stretch film manufacturer;
2010 acquisition of the Fitasa Group (Curitiba, Brazil), a leading company in the distribution of packing and packaging products in Brazil.
2011 full validity of the n. 6,265,055 multilayer patent confirmed by U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, 'USPTO';
2011 start-up of stretch film manufacture at the Curitiba site (Paranà State, Brazil);
2011 start-up of a cast polypropylene line at the Schkopau site (Leipzig, Germany);
2012 start-up of 2 blown lines for the manufacture of stretch hood and other converting films c/o_Manuli Stretch Deutschland plant (Leipzig/Germany)
